A Comparison of Canal Preparation with Two Engine-Driven Nickel-Titanium Files and Balanced Force Technique

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the compare the canal preparation with two engine-driven nickel-titanium instruments (Lightspeed, Quantec), and balanced force technique with Flex-r file in a simulated curved canal. Forty-five canals in
resin
blocks were randomly divided into three groups. Before and after preparation, a record of each block was taken with Zedmed surgical microscope at 5 and 20 times magnification. The efficacy of the preparation was assessed by the change of root
canal
curvature, instrumentation time and incidence of clinical complications.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. After preparation, root canal curvature was decreased in all three group
2. In the percentage change of root canal curvatures, there was no significant difference among the three groups.
3. Quantec group had the shortest preparation time, followed by Lightspeed group, and balanced force technique with Flex-R file group.
4. In the incidence of clinical complications, there was not significant difference among the three groups.
